Phaeton from Volkswagen. But why?

In Greek mythology, Phaeton is supposed to have driven the sun chariot and had failed to control it. So, it appears to be a little bit intriguing as to why Volkswagen chose Phaeton as a name, for its luxury sedan that costs 75 lacs in India. Ironically, Volkswagen Phaeton promises safety and luxury apart from the technological advancement of German engineering.
